Just bought this beauty

I just bought him and I don't know what color he is. I can't tell if he truly is brown or if he is chestnut and the appaloosa varnishing has already started. I don't have any photos of him as a foal as I did not own him then. His mother is a chestnut, but his father is roughly the same color. Unfortunately the owner hasn't named the color on the sire either. Please any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

He looks silver dapple to me. His coloring is very similar to my silver dapple stud though what looks like dappling to me is not very pronounced, so that'd be what I would peg him as. However, I'm not a color expert, so you might want a second opinion.

Yep looks a Black Silver to me too! Black with a silver gene

I agree. There's probably some Appaloosa bronzing at work that makes him look a tiny bit reddish.

I didn't notice the reddening, but after it was mentioned, I compared it to my horse, ATP. Yep, there is a red hue going on. The mane and tail is also a little bright, but that could just be due to some varnishing.

Sorry, I tend to sell my horses up at the higher end of the market, and since I'm not breeding for arabs at the moment, I don't have any extras laying around.
