Once I have a few of my other goal breeds pinned down, it's likely I'll try to help with other breeds with a large number of "children". If only because in doing so, I'd be helping other players in general reach their goal breeds.

This is a very good idea! Having the breeds needed for some more rare breeds is something this game is lacking.

Hello, everyone. I'm here for the June update. I will try to keep this fairly brief, but feel free to respond here or message me if you have any questions. If you have any comments, suggestions, or anything else? Feel free to do the same as well. I hope for the breeders of the SB and those who enjoy the breed to have as equal of footing as possible. I am a big supporter of community efforts.

All in all, we have 160 active horses which is good news. We even have had a total of seven (7) recently born foals from at least three breeders. Unfortunately we only have four stallions at stud. I will try to place more of my SBs up for stud if they are purebred or high percentage and I hope you all will do the same. I also will make the offer of loaning a mare temporarily or breeding two of my horses for a custom foal.

Overall I wish everyone good luck and hope you all enjoy the game.

Was planning to head toward a line of SBs since Fortune's Fall got a lot of action for a while there. I've recently bred him to the two mares I do have hopefully to change over the lines.
First, however, I'm going to work on a line of WABs!

I have compared my breeds' conformations to the conformation bonuses in game. This is what I believe is accurate and am using for my own herd, but isn't a requirement by far. This is just an example of my own opinion on the breed and the game mechanics.

As for the SB, here is my work-in-progress document. Feel free to copy but please mark who wrote it.

SPANISH BARB (SB)

Head & Neck Conformation

• Face Profile: Straight or slightly convex. “Lean, refined.” (The ideal face profile is about median however a heavy head can inhibit speed, stamina agility and tempo while being an advantage to strength.)
  Face Length: Moderate. (A slightly shorter face can enhance agility while a slightly longer face can be advantageous to balance.)
  Jowl: Thin. (A thick jowl can hinder movement by restricting flexion at the poll. A heavier head, influenced by a thick jowl, can be an advantage to agility.)
  Neck Length: Moderate. (A medium neck is ideal for agility and balance.)

Bonuses: Slight positive towards agility/speed/stamina/tempo (face profile); slight positive to either agility or balance (moderate face length); slight positive towards movement (thin jowl); and agility/balance (moderate neck length).

Shoulder & Barrel Conformation

• Withers/Shoulder Angle: Angled. (N/A.)
  Point of Shoulder: Balanced. (The point of shoulder helps determine the slope of the shoulders in combination with the withers. A lower point of shoulder increase the overall slope of the shoulder which is ideal for tempo, stamina, and movement.)
  Rib Cage: Well sprung. (Well sprung ribs are ideal for stamina as it can help increase a horse’s lung capacity by allowing more room for the lungs to expand.)
  Depth of Flank: Moderate. (A deep flank is ideal for stamina as it helps to increase the lung capacity while a shallow flank can be better for speed.)

Bonuses: Stamina (well sprung rib cage).

Back, Haunches & Legs Conformation

• Hip Angle: Moderate.
  Hip Length: Long. (A long hip is ideal for creating the power necessary for speed and strength.)
  Leg Thickness: Moderate to thick. (Thick legs are an advantage to strength and balance but could decrease speed.)
  Stifle Placement: Moderate.
  Back Length: Moderate. (A slightly longer back is an advantage for tempo and balance, while a slightly medium to slightly shorter back is ideal for strength and agility.)
  Croup Height: Level to downhill. “Croup is round and sufficiently full in width and length to be in balance with the body.” (A downhill built is advantageous to speed. A level build is ideal for agility and tempo.)

Bonuses: Speed/strength (long hip); slight positive towards balance/strength (leg thickness); either balance/tempo or agility/strength (back length); and either agility/tempo or speed (croup height).

Total: Bonuses are agility (5), balance (4), speed (3), strength (3), tempo (3), stamina (2), movement (1).

Best disciplines based on conformation are ones with agility, balance, and two of the (3) bonuses.
