does COI affects in breeding a new breed?

Post by reykan »

hello, i have tried to breed 2 horses with a good 5 evaluation points both of them for some time now, and i haven't got a new breed, while with other horses i already got new breeds, i'm still on the first 'new breeds quest' like a persian arabian, but i also saw that some of my horses have some COI, and well i just want to ask:

having one or both parents with some little or high COI affects in the posibility of getting a new breed?

No, COI won't affect your breeding in that way.

However, having a really high COI tends to start producing carbon copies, like duplicate foals that have the same style genes from either or both parents, so in a roundabout way, it COULD be affecting your popping in a negative fashion. I have had this problem from time to time in my own recipe questing. If you suspect the horses you're using are throwing genes that are negatively affecting your chances in this way, breed them to an appropriate grade to cut the COI. The half-breed will still work for your recipes, but you'll have more balanced genes to work with. In the case of recipes that use crosses, go for a purebred of one or the other or another cross that's unrelated from the market (halfs and parts can also work, as long as it's an unnamed other breed).

Sometimes popping 'carbon copies' (duplicate-like foals) works in our favor, sometimes it does not.
