Welsh Cob Stallion for Stud?

Post by Rodeo_Ace »

I'm looking for a good solid Welsh Cob stallion for stud. I have a mare ready to be bred and a couple fillys on their way. Anyone have a good stallion for stud? I'm willing to pay good money for the stud fee.

I have 1 Welsh Cob at stud, there is another at stud as well. However warning, as mine has 1 red. Looking to breed better Welsh Cobs but I need to sell some horses first.

Right now I have several good lines building with positive breeders reports, when those herds produce the cobs will have very good stats. But right now I want to start another line just to have a couple cobs on the ranch if I need them - so it's ok if he has a red. How much for the stud fee??

Haha! No worries, I did the same thing with an Andalusian stallion of mine.

I have the foundations breeding for cobs right now, and a starting herd. New blood is required.

Well let me know if I can help in any way, I currently only have 1 North African Barb x Arabian Filly right now, a lot of them are coming out as Baladis.

Will do! The same offer to you, it's a challenge to breed a rare breed. So few people are working on Welsh cobs at this moment. Which is good, but it means that the COI is going to be higher and the lines more inbred. Having two ranches breeding them will make it allot easier to keep the breed nice!

Alright, since we will be working together, should we post updates here or on another posts?? I had no idea this was a rare breed, but makes me want to get it even more. I did read about the Inbreeding and although there are no consequences YET I would like to definitely avoid if possible. So Far I've found only 2 out of my 4 Arabian mares produce something other than Baladi, but both North African Barb x Arabians have the same sire. Do you happen to know of any other Arabian or North African Barbs that do not meet the requirements of a Baladi?
