Re: Color?
Yes, I agree with silver on black base. Champagne and tiger eye, and of course the tobiano stockings. This horse is a bit unusually colored, so I think what we're seeing is one cream with dun expression. And it's the dun that's causing this amber-like flush.KYTrainer wrote: I don't know the name for this, so I'll just list what I see. I think that he is silver (the dapples gave that away) on a black base, champagne tiger eye with tobino stockings. Also, maybe pearl or cream? What is the name of his color? (BTW, I CANNOT tell cream from pearl)
As for naming the color... Silver dapple classic cream grullo. I don't generally add tobiano to the name, but 'painted' can start it. Or 'paint' can end it... something like that.

Re: Color?
Just an FYI - rather than 'painted' or 'paint', it's better to just stick with Tobiano, as the former can be confused with the breed. If you don't know what white genes are causing the white (or you just don't like using Tobiano), using Pinto is a better option than paint. IRL most horses won't denote their white markings on registration unless that white extends onto the body (so facial and leg markings don't matter) and registries that care about body markings usually like to differentiate between tobiano and overo patterns.BlackOak2 wrote:Yes, I agree with silver on black base. Re: Color?
Hmm, isn't there a chance that the colt is carrying the Pearl gene? If you look at his pedigree and specifically the sire's line you can see the Pearl gene. The sire's dam's dam seams to be getting the Pearl gene from her dam (https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/1691693).BlackOak2 wrote:Yes, I agree with silver on black base. Re: Color?
I don't see this horse as pearl. You'd need two pearls or a pearl and cream to show, since this horse has champagne, this would be a triple dilute horse. She doesn't appear to be a pseudo-white. But of course, I certainly can be wrong. She looks more like a dun and champagne, but without any signs of dun, and a lot of signs of cream, then that is my assumption.Veterinarian wrote:Hmm, isn't there a chance that the colt is carrying the Pearl gene? Maybe Silverine could be of more in-depth assistance if I'm wrong?
