Virtual Vs Reality

Post by Ceeder »

So I've always loved horses. I've always always wanted my own.
I've always wanted to work with horses. I've always wanted to ride and train.
But here I am at the age of 20 come June 9th and...the last time I was on a horse was at the age of 13. :(

There's A LOT when it comes to horses oh gosh I'm always overwhelmed but excited about the amount of stuff to learn about horses, but it just looks like my dream of horses will never really come true.

So here I am starting a bloodline of purebred Mustangs that I am so excited about! - confetti-
Although a part of me still sincerely wishes I was doing this in real life vs virtually. -bleh-

I know how you feel. I've always wanted to train and show my own horse and, while I have actually owned horses in the past, for one reason or another it never lasted long enough for me to reach that point. I've moved countries twice and had a baby so owning a horse will be waiting a few years for me. Luckily on my part though I found a reasonably priced stable in my area to do lessons at, so hopefully I can star tthose up in a few weeks.

I feel you! Most of my friends have bought or loaned horses of their own at this point in my life, but I just know that I'll run out of time and money if I decided to get one now. I'm 17 and have a massive amount of studying and travelling left to do before I settle down, so I'll just have to be patient and wait. I do have a horse I take care of/ride as if she was my own 2-4 a week, so at least I have some real life horse related things to do ;)

Oh, and then there's another conflict, haha. I'd really like to breed my own foal one day, buuuuut on the other hand, I'm very much against inexperienced "backyard breeding". Struggles, endless struggles :P

Another horse-less horse person here. I rode throughout my childhood, but I haven't been on a horse since I left for university three years ago. I current work for the racetrack in my state, and I am adamantly horse shopping. I have decided that I will buy a horse when I turn 25. By then I should be graduated (gods I hope so) and trying for vet school; just generally adult enough to make a go of it. I really can't bear to wait any longer at this point.

I'm currently a semi-horseless person. I got my boy veryyyy cheap cause he was considered dangerous when I was 12 (to any first pony buyers, for goodness sake don't do that, learn from my mistakes haha!) Anyway, after the initial few trips to a&e I had a beautiful and prettyyyyy rideable creature. He really is my pride and joy, but I went off to university 4 years ago and I've had to loan him out. He is more of a field ornament where he is currently as he keeps damaging the people loaning him -.- I would so desperately love to have him back, but I just cannot afford it!

I see that we are all the same haha. I am 23 and last time I was on horse when I was... 18 I think but currently I am thinking about renting one with my friend. I would love to have my own horse in the future.

Yes, I feel this. I have never owned a horse, but I've had friends who have. One of my mentors and "second mom" raises Arabians. I have been around horses a lot as a child, but my family rarely had money to have a pet at all (since I was eight, we managed to have a cat).

Nowadays I'm disabled and prone to seizures, so the idea of having a horse besides a Mini is a bit far-fetched. At the same time, I've learned there's a local stable that works with disabled people from kids to war vets and I'm hoping to get hippotherapy there. :) Mainly I just want to hug a horse though. I need a certain amount of horse hugs in a year.

As of now, I am raising rabbits though! I would suggest starting small from my experience. Small animals, like rabbits or rodents, are a good way to get into things. They are much, much cheaper--so much cheaper--and they have shorter lifespans. You can learn a lot of good skills with them too. For instance, you can show your rabbits. In certain places, you can even compete in agility competitions with them.

I'm a bit strange then, I actually own heaps of real horses LOL! But I enjoy the breeding/genetics aspect of the game as I can breed lots of foals and not have to feed them LOL! I'm proof that you can own horses and still be completely mad for anything horse/pony related!!
