Zebras?

Hey everyone! I've just returned to HWO after about a year long break due to college and one of the new things I've noticed is some of my horses turning into zebras. Can anyone please explain to me what this feature is/does and why it seems to effect horses at random each turn?

I got a zebra too! But it didn't stay for long.. Look into his gallery, got some pics before it got away.
