Barns and energy

Hello!
So I am keeping my horses in a barn, and feeding them recommended amount of hay. However, their energy is never full! I kept adult horses in a barn and fed them only hay, and their energy was always full. Can someone tell me how to keep my foal's energy up? Is it possible?

I feed performance mix to mine, it gives more energy (hay seems unbalanced in maintenance/energy), and it even seems cheaper than hay. My horses are on pasture though. I heard foals never get enough energy in barn - they only eat a bit grass besides mothers milk and only start eating the other food at 6 months.

Thanks! But how do I feed my horses anything other than hay? I don't see any other options available.

You choose feed in the top right corner og the feeding tab, where it says "Choose a feed" :)
