Re: Adopting An Abused Arabian!!!!!!
okaaaayyy so if anyone knows anything about Abused horses, or Arabians in general that would be awesome! lol Sooo Ella is a bit strange, when I go into her stall with a lead rope she'll come up to me and I can hook it up and lead her out. Now she acts like a totally normal horse on the lead rope, she doesn't usually care if you pet the left side of her (our right side), but when you go to pet the right side of her (our left) she wigs out!!! But it's just her face, not her entire body....so I'm not sure if her shyness has to do with abuse 100% orrrr maybe she was never worked with on the opposite side either, since horses don't correlate one side and the other. She will lunge on the left side but the other side. And whatever you do don't touch the crest of the mane....she hates that. She is scared of brushes, but will let you brush your hand down her back (if you're on her good side) I can't cross tie her because she only allows me to clip one end.....the minute you go to clip the other you flips out.
Now if she is in her stall and I go in there without a lead rope she'll shy away and turn into the corner...but if I come into the stall with a lead rope she greets me with open arms....what is that all about??

That's so nice of you to adopt her. You're one of those people who really care
