Graying Palomino ?

Post by Perséphone »

Hi everyone !

Can a Palomino be... graying ? I've bred this cute mare that at first seemed to be palomino but here is she graying ! Any thoughts ?

TC's Montana

Her dam is one of my first mares and she's also graying but, is it possible on palominos ?

Have a nice day everyone !

Grey will cover any color. Greys here on HWO are born their "adult" color (what it would be when the horse grows up, instead of the foal coat) and then progressively grey out. Grey is a dominant gene, so the horse only needs one copy to be grey. There can't be a gray offspring for two non-grey parents, but if at least one of the parents is grey (as in your mare's case), there is a chance of grey foal.
