Hooves

Post by Revenant »

Okay, so my friend has been actively researching hooves, like, 24/7 and is a farrier, so it's stuck on my brain (she keeps sharing things on Facebook). I've only been looking towards getting 4* in the breeds I want and green traits. Is it possible for a horse to have "bad hooves" in the game, as in wonky hooves lower performance? Is this involved yet? Note: I am not an upgraded player so I'm missing out on the Conformation Report +/- but I'm very curious if this is currently involved or ever will be.

Just checked. Hooves don't seem to be one of the conformation points. They are:

Head & Neck Conformation
Face Profile
The ideal face profile is about median however a heavy head can inhibit speed, stamina agility and tempo while being an advantage to strength.

Face Length
A slightly shorter face can enhance agility while a slightly longer face can be advantagous to balance. Stamina is enhanced with a long face.

Jowl
A thick jowl can hinder movement by restricting flexion at the poll. A heavier head, influenced by a thick jowl, can be an advantage to agility.

Neck Length
A longer neck can enhance speed, while a shorter neck can ehnance strength. A medium neck is ideal for agility and balance.

Shoulder & Barrel Conformation
Withers/Shoulder Angle
Sloping shoulders increase a horses range of motion which is advantageous to movement and, to a lesser degree, tempo.

Point of Shoulder
The point of shoulder helps determine the slope of the shoulders in combination with the withers. A lower point of shoulder increase the overall slope of the shoulder which is ideal for tempo, stamin and movement.

Rib Cage
Well sprung ribs are ideal for stamina as it can help increase a horses lung capacity by allowing more room for the lungs to expand.

Depth of Flank
A deep flank is ideal for stamina as it helps to increase the lung capacity while a shallow flank can be better for speed..

Back, Haunches & Legs Conformation
Hip Angle
Flatter haunches enhances movement and to a lesser degree, balance. A sloping haunch enhances strength and balance.

Hip Length
A long hip is ideal for creating the power necessary for speed and strength.

Leg Thickness
Thick legs are an advantage to strength and balance but could decrease speed.

Stifle Placement
A forward placed stifle is ideal for agility while a set back stifle is ideal for movement.

Back Length
A slightly longer back is an advantage for tempo and balance, while a slightly medium to slightly shorter back is ideal for strength and agility.

Croup Height
A downhill built is advantageous to speed while an uphill build is advantageous to strength and movement. A level build is ideal for agility and tempo.

Thanks so much for your posts! I'll definitely have to save this info. It'll be interesting to compare what the ideal conformation for my breeds are compared to how conformation relates to stats in game. Might give me a better idea of how to narrow down disciplines. :)

Also, yeah. My friend is the best. She's kind of a mentor to me, even though I've never had horses. She's an Arabian breeder as well for endurance mostly, but also sometimes English or Western (her horses are jack-of-all-trades willing workers). Right now she's also gotten into cat breeding with Bengals and she's been a farrier for awhile, working on her own horses especially, but now she's also working with abused/neglected donkeys, horses, and mules in regards to their feet. <3 Lovely lady dear to my heart. Definitely who inspired me to be "That person who doodles horses in their school notebook" lol.
