Adjustment to show entry

Post by Eurynome »

I've attempted to enter my horses in a few shows can have gotten a "your horse is too tall/short" message a couple of times.

Perhaps either list the min-max horse height on the competition info, or completely omit horses who don't fit the requirements from the show entry list?

Only place I've run into this is **in the public competitions**. There's nothing to stop you from entering any horse/pony in *any* competition in Local Shows, and it amuses me to enter tall horses for In-Hand there. Or short Shetlands in ridden events.

But in the public shows, the computer will give you that message for In-Hand if your horse is measured in hands and not inches.

The opposite is true for under-saddle events: everything *except* In-Hand, Log Pull, Harness Racing, and the three Driving disciplines (Driven Dressage, Marathon Driving, and Obstacle Driving). A too-short horse cannot enter events like Hunter, Barrel Racing, or Endurance *even if the event is restricted to a given breed and the animal is a pure member of that breed.*

If you have hands-high Shetlands, please see the under-saddle competitions this Saturday and Sunday. ("Sat. Shetlands saddled" and "Easter Pony Hop")

It would be smarter of the computer not to offer too-short for saddled events and also not too-tall for In-Hand. But it does.

It does recognize breed and age data, but not height and gender. :(
