Meteors....

Post by reyn »

So, a meteor flew close over Scotland tonight. White flash and a big bang.... Luckily it was around the end of the work day so lots of folk heading home managed to catch it on their dashboard cams.

Very cool, but I'm curious: do people actually just drive around with dash cams running? Why?

Haha, yes they do.... probably more commonly than you would think!

People around here are idiot drivers and I know a few people who commute to our nearest city - Inverness - which is around a 45 minute drive away and use dashcams as evidence if there are any accidents or near misses. It does come in handy once in a while for the other strange things that happen on the roads.

That's a really nice fireball! There was a huge rock that was going to pass within 11000 miles of us on Saturday, but Nasa have revised their figures and it's going to be 3,000,000 miles away.

I saw that in the news (I'm in the UK too) and felt sad I wasn't farther north!
