Sex Ratio Study
In light of my flailing about because of excessive nice colts and a drought of decent fillies: http://www.horsetalk.co.nz/2012/03/22/s ... z41HJqqrbw

Re: Sex Ratio Study
A very interesting article! I wonder what the ratio is on HWO and if there even is a method to raise the chances for a filly cause after 6 Canadian Warmblood colts I'd love to know.

Re: Sex Ratio Study
That's really interesting (and as far as HWO is concerned my fatties sure seem to be throwing a lot of boys...) I've always assumed its 50/50 on here, well and in real life. Who knew!

Re: Sex Ratio Study
That actually works I reckon, if I breed my mares on a slightly decreasing plane of nutrition they give me fillies, the ones fat on rich pasture give me colts!. The real life mares this is. The game seems to give me roughly 50/50 colts to fillies. I delete a lot of my colts though

Re: Sex Ratio Study
this would actually be really helpful in game play... I always get the really pretty colts, especially for my well planned out breedings for new colors or breeds x-x not that it would change much with what coat is produced, but it would give a better chance at picking and choosing with my more preferred genders for breeding and showing projects

Re: Sex Ratio Study
Actually, in an article that I read recently (that was about humans, but also informed that this applied to most, if not all, mammals), it said something about the more high energy foods and the more energy a female gets gives a higher chance of a male being conceived. It said that that is why more girls are being born in first world countries, what with so many women going onto diets.

Re: Sex Ratio Study
Very interesting study! I have been getting quite a few fine colts that have to be rehomed. My ratio w/ colts to fillies is around 5:1...

Re: Sex Ratio Study
I could start a survey here, actually. 24 mares on rich pastures) It would be extremely interesting.
I also was intended to work with my own statistics which include sex of foals from roughly y59 game time to y139. But there's a big amount of data, so I'm still hesitating.

Re: Sex Ratio Study
I'm ready to write my experience.
I bred my mares to the stallion 65k HGP. All mares were fatter than moderate. After a month or so I mowed pastures from almost 100% to 70-80. Mares started to lose weight. And here's the results:
24 foals - 20/01
11 colts
13 fillies
I also write about some of my previous breedings. I didn't mind to manage weight of my mares.
23 foals - 16/01
7 colts
16 fillies
23 foals - 15/01
15 colts
8 filles
24 foals - 14/01
14 colts
10 fillies
24 foals - 14/01
10 colts
14 fillies
22 foals - 11/01
11 colts
11 fillies
Overall:
140 foals
68 colts
72 fillies
