Cream or Pearl?

Post by Chelle »

2 horses that I have questions on, I'm unsure of cream or pearl? Both have blue eyes, the mare (Frost FMS) is the dam of the colt (Crisp FMS). Crisp's sire is a palomino varnish blanket, though he doesn't have spots I'm wondering if he's picked up the varnish gene or is showing signs of Mealy? Frost also has a darker muzzle than what Crisp has.

Looking at the parents is always helpful. Crisp's sire is buckskin, so he's either Cr/Cr or Cr/Prl. Frost's dam is also buckskin, so she's either Cr/Cr or Cr/Prl; her sire is also very clearly smokey cream, so Frost is definitely perlino. And since Frost is double cream, Crisp must be too.

Really?! I never would've guessed perlino, they both seemed too dark for that to me. Thank you for the help!
