Until registries are in place the Breeding Communities forum will be for players to work together towards creating or improving their favourite breeds.
Forum rules
Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.
All new threads must be approved.

Java

The Java is an Indonesian horse breed that developed from the crossbreeding of several horses, including the Arab. Sometimes referred to as the Kumingan pony, the Java is a strong animal that has proven its usefulness in rural areas as well as cities.

The Java horse is relatively small, though still larger and stronger than other Indonesian horse breeds. It has long ears, a thick mane, lively eyes, distinct withers, a well-muscled but rather short neck, and a deep chest.

The Java horse stands between 11 and 12 hands high (44-48 inches, 112-122 centimeters), and comes in a wide array of colors. It has a long, straight back, sloping shoulders, and a high-set tail that is probably a mark of Arabian influence.

Java horses also have strong, muscular legs, despite their rather light frame, and poorly-develop joints and bones. In fact, it is widely used in Indonesia to pull sados, a form of horse-drawn taxi.

The Java horse originated in the Isle of Java in Indonesia over 300 years ago. Much of its development is a result of the Dutch East India Company’s importation of horses into Indonesia; the company founded its first factory during the latter part of the 16th century in Java. Arabian and Barb horses were among those brought to the island during this time. They were crossed with the local horses and the result is the Java horse breed. Today it is mainly used for draft work, riding, and pack duty.

Since I noticed that no one else has taken on the task of breeding these lovely horses, I figured I'd give it a shot!

In order to create the Java I need to mix [Timor Pony] x [Arabian x North African Barb]
Right now my own breeding program consists of a Part Arabian x NAB mare who I've bred to a timor stallion, but it looks like this will take several attempts so any help anyone else can provide would be very much appreciated! I also bred one of my NAB mares to an Arabian in the hopes of getting another horse to cross with a Timor Pony.

One of the biggest issues that could arise is the limited number of Timor ponies that are available currently, which will limit the gene pool and my ability to produce Javas since I only have only found two studs to use. Any and all help would be very very much appreciated, and I'd really enjoy having a breeding partner if anyone is interested.

sorry i didn't notice your reply! I ended up abandoning my project for the time being and I'm working on spotted NABs just for fun. I'll probably go back to it later but I guess I'll leave this thread here for anyone who continues breeding them. I do have some shorter NABs in my heard that might be okay for making Javas, but for now I'm not going to be breeding for them.
