The Kentucky Derby Postponed/Coronavirus Discussion

Our schools all shut down and my parents think our family has the coronavirus

The Kentucky Derby has been postponed until the first Saturday of September due to the coronavirus (Hopefully this doesn't affect our Kentucky Derby in the game )

Is anyone on here in an area that has been hit by the virus?

I personally think that it's a little scary that everything is shutting down/getting postponed, but I also think it's comforting to know that this is happening to slow the spread, not because there's a danger of everybody dying from it. I'm glad the death rates for the virus are low- it's fairly easy to recover from if you're not otherwise at risk!

On the other hand, because of the virus, I'm working less for a while as the place where I work is only keeping around their full time staff and giving fewer shifts to the part time staff (I'm part time).

Thoughts anyone?

I'm very disappointed, but I understand it's probably necessary. Even if they managed to keep the spectators from coming, just the jockeys and horses alone would be coming from all across the country. Also, there have been two people that have died from this virus in my area (both consistently traveled abroad), and I think there were 19 that contracted. I'm pretty much in self-quarantine right now, not because I'm sick as far as I know, but because I don't want to get sick. It's good that you only work part-time! There's a lot of people coming into those workplaces, especially grocery stores.

Yeah, I know that you're right and all... but I'm still a little upset over it I really didn't think the virus would last until May... and know it looks like it will and even longer!
Yeah I'm also trying to be in self-quarantine (except when I have to work.. my schedule is still being figured out)... it's so weird not being able to go out and do anything! I don't know what I'm going to do with myself
