It looks similar to this one. This one has light dapples.
Maybe she has an even lighter dapple causing the "roaning" look.![]()
I wonder if PeacefulOreo has taken notice of this.
I have a sooty dapples question for you. Have you seen freckles appear alongside the sooty dapples, like the mare in the first post?PeacefulOreo wrote:...

Re: Unusual Coat Expression
Im starting to think it may be related to Pangre. This horse looked like it was almost roan at birth but did show pangre. As it aged it turned silver/grey and pangre disappeared but looks like its roaning - but its not roan as the legs and head are a darker shade. Could it possibly be like a reverse pangre over the dominate color.BlackOak2 wrote:

Re: Unusual Coat Expression
I've had this before. Almost always on horses that I was keeping on eye out to see if they'd have snowflakes, so I was looking particularly closely. However the horses I'm speaking of did not end up having snowflakes or roan. In my lines it has been pretty common, though it doesn't show well on black so I don't have anybody to show you right now. I don't think it's related to anything in particular, but is rather just a product of how some effects are layered on others.BlackOak2 wrote:

Re: Unusual Coat Expression
Pangare could be a possible culprit. My lines do have pangare throughout them, although on that particular line, it's nearly impossible for me to see dun or pangare on those pearl coats.HorzeLover101 wrote:Im starting to think it may be related to Pangre. That's the option that was most likely in my book aside from sooty dapple.Silverine wrote:...
I do have lesser expressed ones and greater expressed ones, but she's the heaviest example I have. I won't be breeding for it though. So I'll leave it at this.
I will be keeping an eye on it, but I don't expect to get anywhere.
Thank you both... at least I'm not seeing spots.
