Post by ST0RM »

1) what is rehoming
2) it says I can't rehome a horse with living children. Why is that?

Rehoming is the word that's used when you don't want to keep a horse. Rather than selling it to another player, we can delete it from the game. This is rehoming. But our admins don't like to use the words 'death' or 'delete', so they offered the word 'rehome' and the pop-up describes the 'horse has been sent to a good home' (they also don't like it for us to use such words as well, they like the game to stay as upbeat as possible).
It's permanent and a horse that's rehomed is NOT recoverable by any of us or by our admins. Once it's gone, it's gone.
Rehoming offers no financial income.

For horse's that have any living children, and this includes those that have 'passed on to greener pastures', a horse is no longer able to be rehomed (deleted) from the game. This would cause broken links, so this is not a possibility for us.
You can go down the horse's offspring line and one by one, delete the line until you can delete the horse, or you just age it out. There are those on HWO that will age-out a horse that has offspring. Sometimes age is a factor in those they'll take on. Sometimes not. Those that will age out horses, often, but not always, will purchase horses only for $1. Because they have no use for the horse either. It just gets them to the point that they're 'passed' but will not create a broken link in the lineage.

Rehoming is like selling a horse, but to no financial aid to you. For instance, if you had a very old horse with no offspring that you couldn't bear to see die, you could simply rehome it. This doesn't send it to another player, it simply deletes it.

STORM,
If you rehome a horse, it's basically the same thing as selling a horse or ageing it out. The only difference is that the horse is deleted permanently from the game and, unlike selling, you don't get any income. You can't rehome horses with offspring because it would cause broken pedigrees. I think you pretty much get it by now :)

You don't actually see the horses die in the game. The way you put it sounds a little, well.... dramatic. (Also, it may give the wrong picture to younger children reading this)
