SO.MANY.QUESTIONS.HALLLPPPP

Post by MissGla »

Y'ALL I AM SO LOST
I have SO many questions..

1st. Competitions- What discipline has the most competitions available? I am looking to make a barrel racing champ but not many competitions available. If the date is past is it a waste of money to enter? They seem to sit on 1 or 2 competitors for YEARS even.

2nd. Breeding & Selling- I am wanting to sell my horses but no one will buy them, what are the main things people are looking for when buying horses? Which horses sell better more rare breeds or more common breeds? What is the best way to breed out the RED in horses? Are there better horses to pick from the adoption? I notice Arabians with long an short tails, long and short manes.

3rd. Photos. I want to upload custom photos of my horses, is there a way to do this?

I know there is a LOT more i want to ask, i was in the chat and NO ONE was there. Sorry if this isnt the proper way to ask in these forums. I tried, i swear.
Thanks in advance.
Much love!

What I would do to make your horse a barrel racing champ is to enter it in as many barrel competitions as possible. If the date is past that just means that the competition doesn't have enough entries to start, so it will wait until there is 5 entries (I always enter late competitions that only have 4 horses, so it will be judged right away)
If your looking to sell a horse, I think other players would want a horse with no reds, high HGP, trained (or mostly trained), low COI, and the breed. Here's a tip, I always repost my sale ads so that they will be on the front page on the market (just take down the sale ad, then put it back up) so more people will see your horse. I think that rare breeds sell better against untrained common breeds, but nice, unique, and trained common breeds will sell for a lot. Best way to breed out a red in a horse is to breed it to a horse with high HGP and lots of greens/golds. When you choose a horse from the AC, it depends. You can't tell if it has less reds, hgp, etc. until you actually own it.
to upload a photo of your horse, go to the gallery, press "upload image" and it will show the current horse. That's the only way you may take a photo of a horse

I don't know but to answer your first question, yes you need to acquire a minimum of 200 points. The levels just refer to how many points your horse has in that certain discipline. For your second question, I'm not sure, I'm a newbie but I think I saw a post in guides and how-to about which things you need to train up.
To answer your previous questions. I tend to buy any horse breed although some people tend to prefer Arabians and Thoroughbreds. I like it when the horse is well trained but it takes a while to train them well but you can ask for more money by training them. Also, try to find a reasonable price to sell them for otherwise people won't want to spend 300,000 for an AC untrained horse but they will want to if it is a fully trained 6 gold Arabian. I also delete and repost my sales adds so that more people see them. I hope this helped you.

STORM, h0rsey, good to see you both involved and helping out the community where and when you can.

Player-made competitions are generally fulfilled as needed. So often, you'll see champers and high-volume breeders making competitions in just those types that affect them. Right now, like the the racing styles will have the most. Although I do see log pull and one or two of the westerns do get high-influx of made-competitions from time to time. Just choose your competitions wisely. The biggest waste to money when entering competitions is entering competitions your horse has little or no chance to win. But we all do this from time to time. Just watch the entry amount and the pot.
This link will help you understand a little more about making and even entering (evaluating) potential competitions.

As for selling horses... it all comes down to what the purchaser is looking for in a horse. Sometimes it's about bloodline, sometimes training, sometimes grinder, sometimes color, sometimes HGP... and the list goes on. Some of the ways to increase the potential sales of your horses is to have something the community wants on a regular basis. Things like fully trained horses, or discipline-trained horses will offer more weight and interest to them. Certain rare breeds can also be of interest, but when the rare breed has crossed out of being substantially rare, then you'll need to increase their stats or bring something more to the breed to keep it in higher demand. Rare or difficultly-maintained color genes can also sweeten the pots. Then there's such things as Niche Markets (there's a link in my signature Quick-Links), that are quite usable and quite buy-able, but the purchaser-pool is erratic. The basic rule of thumb is: if you spend a lot of time on your project, you can expect to earn much more money. And of course, competition horses are worth much more. Even 'low quality' competition horses, as long as they show a lot of potential, can be sold for quite a bit more money than what you might think. So, what IS a 'low quality' competition horse? It is a horse in the beginning stages of creating a competition bloodline. It shows, through the competition record, a really strong 'try'... pulling scores or placements beyond what the HGP, the confo score and the BR says the horse should have.
These types of horses are excellent breed-stock for the next-generation of competition bloodlines. They're hard to define sometimes though, because these horses haven't yet been refined in generational-breeding, they can hide their talents quite well. And generally, it's not until a generation or two afterward that the horse's talents begin to shine through in their descendants.
As for AC horses, remember that they don't finish growing until they're 5 years. All AC horses come out as 4 year olds. But such things as hair growth, color genes (like graying and leopard) and even feathers (along with a number of other genes), can continue to change throughout the life of the horse. So what you see in the AC may not be what the horse will eventually look like. Some things can be assumed, by using our help and color guides and by familiarizing yourself with the game.

Breeding out reds can be accomplished by breeding to an already established line (like h0rsey said), but it can also be done by watching your horses genes, evaluating the BR and HGP and only keeping the appropriate offspring for the breeding shed. You can increase your bloodline to the next 'level' (though we don't use such a term as levels here), in just three generations with just using one breed of AC horses and without injecting an already established bloodline. It does take work. But it is quite achievable, as long as you're careful about your evaluations (and you don't need to see your horse's confo scores to do this, though arguably, it does make it a bit easier).

Custom Photos... this term is different from just the gallery image we use. A custom photo can be used anywhere on HWO forums and even in our avatar and signature, but a custom photo can not be used in place of your horse or the woman standing next to your horse.
