I just bought this mare for her color. I know she is a bay at least. But is she a sooty bay or is she a grullo? Or is she just a bay? I don't think she is a dun, she doesn't have the leg markings. Thanks so much everyone for being so helpful!

I'd say she has the dun gene. She's not got zebra markings on her legs, but you can just see a dorsal stripe along her back. Definitely metallic and bay tho.

Yes, kidhedera is right.
"Metallic" sooty bay dun.
You may choose to call her "cherry" bay but that isn't a defined colour.

Cherry is a term of shade, not genetic.
