HWO Newsletter

Post by Alaina »

So I know there has been tons of interest in this idea and in light of Virgo having been inactive and losing upgraded status I thought we might try again. If by chance, Virgo, you come back and read this I didn't make this with the intention of stealing your idea and tossing you to the curb! If you are still wanting to participate you are more welcome to co-admin with Kidhedera and I.

Onto business.

I thought it would be good to have a few people admin this newsletter so in the event that one of the admins goes inactive for any period of time there are still backups waiting in the wings to keep things running smoothly.
I also thought that it would be good to run this through Google docs/email so that non-upgraded players have just as much of a chance to participate as upgraded members.

I have already made a google document and anyone with the link is welcome to comment on it with any ideas/suggestions/revisions.

HWO Newsletter Google Document

If you are interested in becoming a writer for the newsletter just request to edit the document with a note on what categories interest you and that will share your email address with me.

I was working on the newsletter before it kinda fell apart. I will be willing to be placed where ever is needed. I was going to write the player of the month article. I would be willing to do other articles too. I like the google doc format also. Maybe we could publish an uneditable google doc for palyers to read?

Also, I think that a small blurb on genetics each newsletter would be interesting. It might also help people who want or don't want specific traits in their herd, but aren't familiar with the genetics behind them? There are a lot of genetics going on in this game that can get confusing for people who don't love genetics.

I was also on board before it went downhill - and I'm still very interested, especially in writing about genetics, colours, studs, etc.

I'll look at the document tomorrow, it's getting quite late around here. ;)

Hey all. We'll probably write the newsletter in Google docs, and then post the finished product to the forums. Are there any BBCode wiz's that would like to format it for us?

I personally would like at least 2 people on each 'subtask' so that we don't risk the whole newsletter getting gummed up or sections being dropped cos one persons real life gets busy. Then people can work in small teams/pairs to divide up the work however they see fit, and if one person disappears their partner can step in and help until they get back/we need to advertise for a new volunteer. You can volunteer in as many categories as you like, but keep in mind your time constraints and try to limit yourself to one or two things you are really passionate about.

So, like Alaina said, take a look at the document she linked to, fire off some suggestions or volunteer in a category. :)

@BrokenOak Sounds great! Have a think about what you think the best way of selecting and 'interviewing' people is.

@Aela It would be great to have you organising a 'stud report' type article, and also a separate category for and colour genetics.

@Katja Thats a great idea. Are you interested in writing on the topic? The suggestion has been added to the main document. :)

I was also very interested in joining and writing with the team! I'll take a look at the document and see where I'll be of the most help. :)

I would love to write about world records! Since someone today broke a world record in lv 10 log pulling....the top one was Nightshade who was owned by Virgo! And I think that horse held that world record for quite awhile...like a month maybe. lol

Since you'd like us to tag team it, do Aela and I wish to tag-team genetics & colors?
