Not surprising, as his snowflakes are the same tiny style as I went for them.BlackOak2 wrote: Reminds me a lot of your galaxy patterns. Looks more like a graying pattern then a snowflake... really great covering!

I do the same thing! I'll see a black leopard and check out it's spot arrangement and then be like "wait a second..." and look back through the lines and BAM! there's one of my boys.BlackOak2 wrote:Kind of miss seeing them around. I still can pick out the bloodlines that are yours or otherwise down from yours.
I find it strange though that I'd recognize yours maybe more than I recognize my own bloodlines. But that's also a tribute to the work you put into them... so... congratulations!

I think part of that, though, is that with projects like ours that take a super long time (the black leopards, your low GP, etc) there are a relatively small amount of players willing to put in the time and effort, and even fewer willing to share their bloodlines. So when a rare opportunity comes up to "opt in" (like with the black stud I put up), it ends up being the jumping off point for almost everybody else.
Though to be fair - any horse that traces itself to one of my up-the-neck boys will also trace itself to your boy.

Which, bringing him up... he hasn't been used in awhile, I think. It might be time for him to officially age out. Thoughts on that? Or did you want to keep him to immortalize him?

I think one or two people have bred to him in the last few months, but that's all that I can remember. I'm fine with aging him out if that's what you'd like, but I'm also fine having him just chill in the freezer.BlackOak2 wrote: Yes, you're correct.

And you're right again! Although, my boy didn't transfer many or really any of his body style forward. That conformation he had didn't hold up at all, not compared to yours.

I think it's time to age out, unless you're planning to use him again, which I'm fine with as well.Silverine wrote:I think one or two people have bred to him in the last few months, but that's all that I can remember. There's enough stock around now that have his extension and if somebody wants a new line of extension, they'll need to figure it out for themselves.

He was useful and outside of you and Totina, not too many others took advantage of him. Considering the trials we went through trying to find the extension, I kind of thought there would be a bit more use from him, outside of us. Even though he wasn't the best horse, not great BR, or conformation... But anyway. Such is the trials and tribulations of a Niche Market area!

Yeah, while other people may appreciate the black leopards I think mostly they're happy just having spotty horses so the already-established chestnut lines are what really gets passed around. Most of the leopards I see in sales or for stud are really messy, not-so-nice-looking red-based ones and I just kind of cringe thinking of all that we went through to make our horses pretty.BlackOak2 wrote: I think it's time to age out, unless you're planning to use him again, which I'm fine with as well.

I'll age him out once I have a space for him over here.

You cringe too???
I see them, and they're nice, some of them are quite nice to look at, eye candy at least... but they're all red based. At least I'm seeing less of them named colors that they aren't actually, like 'silver black with spots' when it's a chestnut Lp.
I suppose it's about time to get them really competing up in the world-record area. That way all of our long-worked-on pretties might get more than a couple collector-styled eyes darting over them.

I'm not there yet though.

Yeah, I'm not there either. My leopards are all in storage while I work on quests and racing Tchenaranis. I have some Knabs plodding along keeping the lines going but all of my "good" ones are in storage as well until things here are more settled. Your reply sounds almost exactly like what I would respond. My black and whites are bay and whites... and my Tchenarani's are the rare breed sales, alongside low GP. Those recipe quests take TOO long...Silverine wrote:Yeah, I'm not there either. My leopards are all in storage while I work on quests and racing Tchenaranis. I'm not there yet though.) I do have the current highest-ranking Knab, but he's a mix. I'm still working on getting the full Knabs pointed but that takes longer since I only enter them in breed-specific shows and there aren't as many entries.

We're falling behind!
