I think he is some sort of bay, I have no clue what to call his coloring though

It is a (Bay) Fleabitten Grey.

I had to go to your ranch to see the horse.

Genetically Bay going Grey, but the type is not Fleabitten.

Fleabites usually appear at a later stage as small "dots" of the original colour on the completely Grey horse.

Your horse would be considered Bay Dapple (which is just a term for the development of the Grey) Grey
