One question,
are grade horses actually a breed and do they have any worth?

I have this gentleman that I would give to you. You would need to do some breeding right away due to his age but he's a beautiful color and a Champion.

Grade horses are the 'mutts' of the horse world. But they have a lot of value, both in the real world and on HWO.

In the real world, their value is limited by their abilities and pedigree in some instances. Plus a few people claim their horses are 'warmbloods' which is true, but can also denote a grade that comes down from warmblood stock. The word Grade, for horses, can also be used to denote a horse with questionable, or partially questionable parentage (like a thoroughbred that got into a band of wild horses and had a foal). But nominally, especially on HWO, the term is used for four or more breeds in a lineage where none of the breeds has a leading or more prominent part.
I actually don't see or hear the term 'grade' to describe real world horses very often at all. It's either pureblood, half-blood or 'unknown' or 'mixed' lineage.

But on HWO, a grade horse is used successfully to breed into pure lines to help with things like creating a bulkier or lighter horse, shortening or growing height, injecting certain color genes, maintaining or shrinking COI, injecting better stats, better HGP or more quality showmanship.

Plus, a grade can be a solid starter point to jump off from when working with a limited pureblood population. If you get a strong, good-looking grade horse, by breeding to that limited population a few times, you get your pureblood with the grade-horse qualities.

It's fine sticking to one breed. We all have our own favorites. But if you ever do decide to branch out, the internet has vast vaults of information on horse breeds.
