YOU'RE DOING AMERICAN SADDLEBREDS TOO?Anne wrote:-
We're best friends now 'k.
I only have my six purebred lads atm, but my side account I'm working towards realistic conformation for ASBs, then I'm gonna breed them back to pure. Please let me know if you ever need anything from me! I do want to work tobiano into my lines at some point, but that'll be in the future once I've got the conformation set.
ANYWAY GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SADDLEBRED CRITTERS :D I'm so happy to see another saddlebred fan here!

Re: Pinging
Oh hello! I just checked your farm and ha, I recognize some of your boys. I hope uh, *cough*, I hope you didn't mind me blowing up their foal count a bit LOL. I was grateful to find public studs to help me along. I had some ASBs leftover from when I played a long time ago to get me started, at least. I'm working tobiano in first because, well, fun. Part of the reason I quit was that tobiano wasn't out yet at the time and I got bored while waiting for it. So now it's here and I wanna play with it, haha. Realistic conformation is one of my long-term goals, after I get playing with pretty colors out of my system.
I honestly didn't expect to come across an active breeder of them, so this is cool!

Re: Pinging
NOPE that's what those lads are there for. :D When I bred them, there was only one ASB stud left on the market with energy, and he belonged to an inactive account, so I bred with him a whole bunch of times (got only colts in like, 7 tries boo). I put those lads up for cheap hoping that more people would start breeding ASBs. ^^Anne wrote:Oh hello! I just checked your farm and ha, I recognize some of your boys. (Let me know if they run out of energy btw, happy to fix that when it happens)
Yay realistic confo! I'm three generations in and had to put things on hold to take the courses to have more horses, but I'm close to having enough space to start up again. I'll let you know how it goes! Would be happy to have that confo bred into more HWO ASBs, given that right now most don't look anything like the breed. xD I'm kinda working in two directions--purebreds, and realistic confos (which are trending towards grades right now). Then once I have the confos down, gonna mix the two lines to bring the confos into purebreds. Then I wanna start working on stats. :D Gonna take forever lol.
But yeah I'm so happy to have someone else into them, it gets a bit discouraging working on a big project alone when it's a less popular breed. ^^

Re: Pinging
Thank you!
I emptied all your ASB studs of energy earlier, haha. I think I'm done breeding to them, but you might wanna go fill them back up so other people can use them.
The horses looking nothing like real-life ASBs almost stopped me from breeding them. Then I remembered the conformation system and thought hrm, I wonder if I can change that. I didn't want to start with doing it, since I didn't remember anything about how the game worked. I wanted to start with fun and color while I learned. But I'll get to it. ASBs have always had a special place in my heart due to how beautiful they are, and I want to help make them just as beautiful in-game.
My tentative plan has been to do tobiano while I re-learn the game, then do stats, then conformation. That kind of works out though, that we're doing things in different orders. Maybe I'll be able to save you some time when you get to the stat stage.

Re: Pinging
Yeah right I'm now I'm just going by eye, confo-wise. I haven't played much with breeding for anything other than pure appearance. I also don't have an upgrade rn, so I can't see the confo sliders (I love those. Super helpful. My plan is to find an acceptable range for each slider for an ASB standard).Anne wrote:Thank you! :) I emptied all your ASB studs of energy earlier, haha. Re: Pinging
Is that something I can help with, since I have an upgrade? I'd be happy to tell you what the conformation is for any horses that you need to know it for, if that's something I can do. And, an acceptable range is a great idea.

Re: Pinging
Ooh yes I might just take you up on that at some point!Anne wrote:Is that something I can help with, since I have an upgrade? I'd be happy to tell you what the conformation is for any horses that you need to know it for, if that's something I can do. And, an acceptable range is a great idea. :)
One of the issues I've been having is that published ASB breed standards don't always address all the options we have on HWO. xD So I've been looking at breed pictures and trying to figure out myself... (stifle is the one I can't figure out. I get the feeling that it should be further back, but not entirely sure!)
Do you have any experience with the breed IRL, outta curiosity? :D

Re: Pinging
I don't, unfortunately. I've wanted to work with horses ever since I was a kid. Something or another has always come up to keep me from it. Part of why I play horse games is to make up for not being able to learn how to ride right now.
Honestly, I was a little overwhelmed trying to figure out how to use HWO's conformation system to make the in-game horses look like them, partly due to my lack of irl experience with them. It's part of why I figured I'd do conformation last - because it was the thing I was least looking forward to doing. xD
