Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.

Hackney Pony
Well developed breeds needed towards creating a high stepping and floaty trotted hackney pony!
I plan on driving Hackneys in Obstacle driving or Dressage driving. The slightly larger ponies will be used in Saddleseat. I hope that they add a roadster division for Hackneys, but in the meantime that is what I plan on.
Thoughts? Anyone else planning on hackneys? It is going to be a long road, but it will pay off in the end.

Re: Hackney Pony
I founded the breed and am actively breeding them. I'll be showing them in saddleseat mostly and keeping my fingers crossed for Fine Harness and/or Roadster. Both my Hackney Ponies and my Dutch Harness Horses would be sick in Fine Harness.
At the moment I'm just trying to actually establish type with them, make them look like real life Hackney Ponies. The foundation stock were, uh.. well.. they looked more like Highland Ponies than Hackneys.
So. Yeah. I haven't done much training or competing because I am too busy trying to make them actually look like, you know, Hackney Ponies.

Re: Hackney Pony
Cob classes too. I just realized that. Haha. I guess I have been looking at exmoor ponies, friesians, and hackney horses. I'm hoping for the best at the moment. Your goals are to get them to appear likes Hackneys at the moment. I think I might start from the bottom and then work on the way they move and pull a cart. Hopefully our lines will cross.

Re: Hackney Pony
Refining the exmoor
The hunt for great exmoor ponies is on. I have decided to start with the exmoor, then (hopefully) breed them to Friesians and then get the Gallaway, which I will then breed to Friesians again. (Don't worry future In Training, you wrote all this down) I have already confused myself, so I made a little (Giant, used about 5 to 8 pages of paper) map of breeds that make the Hackney pony breed.
I continue onwards!

Re: Hackney Pony
I plan on breeding Hackney Ponies as well, seeing as they're necessary in making the American Shetland (Which I plan on breeding), and there are very few Hackney Ponies active.
