Futurity Competition
What is Futurity?
"Futurity programs differ between breed registries, but in general they are to encourage breeding for outstanding offspring. To be enter in a futurity class at a horse show, a horse must have been enrolled in a futurity program, either before or very shortly after birth. They will compete against horses enrolled within the same time period. There are usually requirements that both the sire and dam of the horse must meet; they must be enrolled in a specific program themselves or meet specific criteria."

Futurity Competition On HWO
I think it would be really amazing to see this play out on here and maybe make this a routine competition.
Players would select a discipline and provide two of there horses in which they think will produce the best offspring.
Then when all players have their offspring at age one they will enter in specific competitions.
These competitions will show which player has the best stock and their breeding choices.
In the future I hope to recruit judges and have various prize donations as HWO progresses.
Rules
-Foal must be enter before birth
-Both Mare and Stallion must be owned by the player entering the foal
-Foals must be age one to two to enter competitions (Does not apply to conformation)
-Training is allowed but the competition is to see who can breed the best (Again does not apply to conformation)
-Wait till you are entered in the competition to breed your foal.
-Competitions will always allow time for the foal to be born, so no worries that your mare will not have the foal before judging.
-Competitions will not be judged if all foals are not born.
Current Competitions
-Open Breed All-Round Conformation
Start Date: Jan. 7
Judging Date:
Prize: 5,000 and 25 PT (donated by larissar)
Foal will be judged on overall conformation, meaning the number of conformation points after all positives are added up and all negatives are subtracted. The owner of the foal with the highest score is the winner. I will be the judge of the competition and review all the foals when the final judgement day arrives. This competitions judgement date will be posted after seeing how many people enter.
(More will be added depending on popularity of contest.)
Hall of Fame
Winners and their Foals will be displayed here after each competition is completed.

Re: Futurity Competition
Judging based on total conformation points doesn't take into account the fact that unless you need an attribute for your chosen sport, it doesn't matter how good your horse is in that factor. A -20 in speed for a dressage horse is not a fault because speed is irrelevant to dressage performance.

Re: Futurity Competition
I know, but the point of this contest is to introduce a new kind of competition. The first contest is open to everyone, that is why I chose to run an overall best conformation. Any breed and any discipline can enter and its a way to judge only the breeders choices.

Re: Futurity Competition
I like this idea a lot, it would provide an easy reference for those who are interested in only producing high quality horses. However, I do think Argent has a good point, it might be a good idea to separate an 'all rounders futurity' and a 'specific discipline futurity' and score accordingly? Just a thought!

Re: Futurity Competition
That is exactly where I was heading. If this first contest takes off, I was planning on doing a dressage specific contest next. And then each time a contest is held it would be a different discipline.

Re: Futurity Competition
Some breeds are considered "All Arounders" and do well in many events but don't necessarily excel in a specific event. I think being able to breed an All Around is a challenge in an of itself and it would be very interesting to see the results.
I'll enter this because it sounds fun, and I'll throw in 25PT to the winner to sweeten the pot
I'll post my official entry later today when I get a chance to evaluate my herd.

This could be interesting. I'll look over my ponies and enter later today.

Re: Futurity Competition
Is it ok to breed to a horse on one of your spare accounts?
