Best Discipline?

Post by Walnut Acres »

Hi I am wondering if there is a list somewhere of what breed does best in a specific discipline? I'm looking for a breed that excels in Dressage, Show-Jumping & Cross Country (So basically an eventing horse)?
If anyone can help I will sell you a Lipizanner or a high HGP (65+) Arabian
Unless you don't want a horse

Anyone can answer
I know that you know lots of things about the game so BlackOak2 & D.M Boarding thats why I pinged you :D

As you should remember, on the game, we can MAKE a breed into what we want them to be.
In real life, generally speaking, those breeds that tend to do well in Eventing style are the warmbloods and Thoroughbreds. But there are many breeds that can do eventing style because those three types of competitions require different skill-sets. Thoroughbreds tend to do better in cross country, because it's much like steeplechase. While warmbloods tend to best them in show jumping.

As for the game itself, you'll want to focus on:
Strength
Balance
Agility

Those are the stats that come out most in those three categories across all three and in order (but not in order according to the competitions)

Then:
Movement & Stamina
Tempo
Speed

You'll want the best gene and conf stat combination you can get for all of them, but with emphasis on the top three, since they span all three of those competitions (agility doesn't, it spans just two).

For the mixes that go into it... The following two breeds may be something you might want to give a try at, plus their general build should be alright for eventing as well. In order:
Bashkir Curly
Lokai

So by keeping them 5 star and focusing on eventing, those two breeds might do very well. Of course, it will still take work to make them into something. :D But that's part of the fun.

(No horse necessary for me)

Hi! I'm not that good with English events (I'm a Western rider- last English thing I went to, honestly, I almost fell asleep  ) but I do know a bit about what horses I would prefer on different events.
Dressage: Dressage, you usually want warm bloods, like Dutch Warmbloods, Oldenburgs, and in my opinion, Andalusians. When I bred Fresians, I also found that they are really bred for Dressage. From what I found of Stats on the game, you want a horse that is high in strength, movement, tempo, balance, and has a calm temperment.
Show Jumping: For show jumping, people lean towards Hanoverians for their looks and overall breeding, although most people say that any warmblood horse is good. For stats, the horse is best having strength, speed, balance, agility, and a temperment of even.
XC: For XC, people tend to want Thouroughbreds, for the fact that they are speedy and strong. They also normally want any crossbreeds of Thouroughbreds (Not nesseccarily purebreds, I guess) or breeds that have a good amount of Thouroughbred blood in them. For stats, you would want high strength. stamina, balance, and agility. You also want a horse with an even temperment.

So, basically any light horse will do for you. This most likely isn't the info you needed, but I hope it's close!

Just take a look in the rankings.

These three are in the top 20 of the rankings in Cross Country and Show Jumping:

http://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/871280
http://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/879392

There is no horse I looked at (though I certainly could have missed it), that crosses into Dressage that's also in those top 20.

Like I said before, you can MAKE any breed on this game, INTO what you want, so the arabian can be MADE into an eventing-style horse. It just takes work.

Immediate response to the average arabian, they're lacking in strength, at the very least. So that's likely the very first area you'll want to fix.
