Even though I put that project on hold, it is almost ready for public sale. I need to breed them back to purebred and then start the next phase, creating them into a saddleseat specialty. It's a fun project.

If you're looking for some advice on the thoroughbreds, I found a pair that I personally would give a try at (if I was looking for yet ANOTHER project).

Neither are pureblood, but I think both have a LOT of potential for developing a good racing thoroughbred line, with a little work.

We can breed back to pureblood on HWO. If breeding to a pureblood with mixed lines, it takes about 4 consecutive generations (that means each foal needs to breed back to a pureblood). If breeding with mixed lines, like these I'm linking, it could take as many as 10 generations to make it pureblood. BUT!!! it is more than possible.

Inbreeding is personal preference. So you'll need to make your own decision for that. It doesn't have any negative affects, and once you get close to a COI (coefficient of inbreeding, how closely related your horses are to each other), you will begin to make essentially carbon copies of each other.

You do not have to purchase them. If you were curious about my opinion on what I would suggest to start a new racing thoroughbred line, those would be the choices I would make.
If you want to tackle them using those, by all means, purchase and run with it. But this is YOUR project. Make your own choices on it.
