Mowing?

Post by Raikit »

I just noticed the option to mow my pastures. Is this new, or is it something that comes and goes? Either way, I like it. It lets me keep my easy keepers a little less chunky. ;)

That's what I figured - I wanted to see what everyone thought. That's why I posted here, instead of in Questions & Help. ^_^ Personally I find it really useful.

Definitely a long time coming lol. Now maybe we can cut back on the "how do I make my horse un-fat?" questions XD

Seriously. It'll also help save on building expenses. If you can't afford a barn you can just cut down all the grass and put your horse on feed while it grows. ^_^

Since I am training all my horses, I do not have enough time in the day to mow. Even with the extended day purchased. So I will have to wait awhile before trying it.

Mowing takings time away from the day, not sure how much though with each 20% mow.

It takes 3 hours to mow a large pasture, 2 hours for a medium, and 1 hour for a small. A large pasture nets a little more than $2k and a small pasture nets about $700. I don't remember what medium pastures net, I think it was around $1.5k. If you need to mow while training you could set aside a "mowing day" where you mow down your pastures either all the way or just to where you want. The pastures re-grow, but if there are horses in them they don't re-grow quickly enough to "need" mowing more than once every few days or so. ("Need" in quotes because they don't really need it at all, it's just a convenience. ^_^) My small pasture is 50% full and my large pasture is 58% full and neither of those "needs" to be mowed more than once every five days - and I haven't even been doing it that often in order to give anyone that dipped below Moderately Thin a chance to bump up a bit.

You need a pasture. When the pasture is grown enough (you'll need at least 20% growth, also known as 20% quality), then you can mow from your farm overview.
You do NOT mow from the pasture itself.

It's the blue button that says 'Mow 20%'
