Single All-Horse Search

Post by Argent II »

I think it would be beneficial if we had a single search that included all horses, like most sites. There would obviously be options to search only horses for sale or stud, but this would also open things up so players could search for any horse in the game, which may be helpful if you're looking for the owner of the only horse in a breed that just cropped up, or foals you've sold, or all horses of your chosen breed to see what the goals of other breeders might be.

I would very much appreciate this. I think it would especially helpful when working toward certain cross-breeds. If someone else has succeeded in creating that breed you can look up the horse and look through its pedigree as a sort of guide. As it is you can see if horses exist of that breed but you can't specifically search for them and look at them unless they're for sale or stud.

I agree. I know of several sites that allow you to took at breeds, the top horses, crossbreeds of the breed you are looking at and also ultimately looking at people who specialize in certain breeds.

On a related issue, when one looks up "Aegidienberger" in the Breeds wiki, the page notes "64 horses" but states 0 horses at stud. In the Market submenu "Stallions for Breeding" there are 2 Aegidienbergers, [SFH] Storm Sølvfjeld and champagne. Somehow in the Breeds Wiki the New Foals is updated but not the stud data.

I have checked both these references today before writing this.

The game is huge, with many subdivisions, so that a comprehensive search might not be quite as easy as we would hope.

I know this is a much older topic, but I want to nominate this suggestion again. (I didn't see another topic)
I'm right now just about ready to try at the quest for a Bardigiano and have two very nice prospective breeders for this. If I get the foal quick, I was thinking about sending the mix over to the owner of the only other Bardigiano in game, that is, if they're still even around. But there really is no way to search for who owns a horse if you don't have the id.
Who knows who the singular Bardigiano owner is? Who knows if they could want an unrelated (possibly) bloodline? A post just to the community could so easily be missed and the opportunity could be such a loss.

I can only imagine this would be quite the undertaking though...

i second what you've said, BlackOak.... this idea sounds amazing... it would be a massive amount of work, but very appreciated....there have been any number of times when i wish that there could be a feature like this!

Breeds wiki is great, and yes, does show the most recent foals...but only if there are some there! for example, in cases when there are very few horses of a particular breed online, there is no way to a.) find out what they look like, b.) who owns/bred them, c.) their pedigree/progeny, COI, stats, GP, and so on...

sure, when searching for a particular breed etc, the 'top horses' feature can be used...but again, thats only if they have been entered into a competition, and even then, there is no 'purebred' option (or a particular mixbreed) and you cant see beyond the top 20...

im not complaining :) but it would be amazing to see this feature!
(i dont even know if that all makes sense - but thats what i think :) )
