Yellow Orchid Stables Log

Post by kness123 »

Hi there! I figured I would start a farm log as I continue to grow and breed more horses! Please forgive me as I am sure this will be rough in the beginning lol!

I breed North African Barbs, Arabians, and Belgians! If you have any horses that you do not want anymore, let me know! I will use this log to document and keep track of my bred foals and champion studs as well as other farm news!

YOS Log: North African Barbs

Post by kness123 »

My Starter Breed!
> As the first breed I had on HWO, you can imagine that my NABs have a special place in my heart! I rescued a beautiful stallion from the sale ads and have worked on breeding him with rescued mares from the Adoption Center. This is the post where I will update my progress on several NAB projects as well as things I have come to know and love about my North African Barbs!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First I want to showcase my single stallion that has sired almost all of my NAB foals, he is my Master Grand Champion pride and joy!
MCh. White Sand

He holds his title is Western Trail, has a 65+ GP, and stands at an even 16hh
^(He is not currently available for public studs, but if interested ping me!)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting out with AC mares has been tough, you need to be okay with low GP foals! I have used three gorgeous mares that I have scooped up from the AC (or rescued from someone that didn't want them)

--> My first was Penny, a black tobiano
--> Then I found Pepper (which I just have to show a picture of!!!), she is a SILVER DAPPLE TOBIANO!! She has awful stats with 2 reds, but how do you not scoop up a purebred Dapple NAB
--> And finally I found Glisten who is a drop dead gorgeous chestnut dun varnish NAB, she has produced the best foals by far!

Pepper the Silver Dapple NAB

Glisten the Varnish Chestnut

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Silver Dapple Breeding Project
> Given that there are few silver dapple North African Barbs in the game, I have made it a goal to produce high GP and quality foals that carry the SIlver Dapple coats as well as the 'varnish' gene! Here I will keep track of my progress with the Dapples!
> My first hurdle was that the dapple gene did not represent when I bred Pepper with White Sand (my stallion stud), so I was left to search the stud market for a silver dapple... I have since been using SBH Astroturf as a stud (link: http://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/1904892) This is less than ideal so I am still searching for a dappled stallion to purchase, ping me if you have one ;)
My first foal from Pepper and SBH Astroturf:
Pearl

Only my first try I got a show stopper! Pearl is a purebred NAB with the silver dapple and varnish representation! With a low GP pf 31,574 the bloodline has a long way to go, but she has no reds!!!
My second foal from Pepper and SBH Astroturf:
Confusion

This time pepper kicked a colt, which was exciting! He has mixed stats (1 Gr, 1 Red; hence his name) but a better GP 35,088...
My third foal from Pepper and SBH Astroturf:
Marbled Ivory

This time pepper kicked a colt, which was exciting! He has mixed stats (1 Gr, 1 Red; hence his name) but a better GP 35,088...
Coming soon...

I have decided to breed Pearl with her father to have larger odds of carrying the varnish dapple through the pedigree. Unfortunately that will increase the COI temporarily until I find a new stud, but I can't wait for the foal!

Not sure if I'll keep him yet

Snow Cap

He is a varnish which is great, but his GP is average with no good stats, so not perfect
UPDATE:
I bred mom Pearl to stud SBH Astroturf one last time before dad retired, so fingers crossed we get a good foal!
