Until registries are in place the Breeding Communities forum will be for players to work together towards creating or improving their favourite breeds.

Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.

Abaco Barbs

Post by AbacoBarbStud »

Hi, I am new to the game but I think I have the hang of it. My quest for this game is to breed lots of Abaco Barbs and make them successful in Endurance Racing.

"The Abaco Barb is an endangered strain of the Spanish Barb horse breed found on Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas. The Abaco Barb is said to be descended from horses that were shipwrecked on the island during the Spanish colonization of the Americas and the Caribbean. The population of wild Abaco Barbs that run free on Great Abaco once numbered over 200 horses. The Abaco Barb is found in colours that are different from those of the European/African Barb, including pinto (including the relatively uncommon splashed white), roan, chestnut, black and other colours. They range between 1.32 to 1.47 m (13.0 to 14.2 h)." - Wikipedia

If there is anyone else trying to breed them please let me know as it would be great to team up! :D
Hopefully my mare will be having a Abaco Barb foal any time soon.

TO BREED...

I don't know if you're still working on this breed, but I am. I'm working on using and improving on already existing horses of the breeds required right now, as well as creating new bloodlines with my second account,

If its displayed as a Garrano x Spanish Barb, then it's not classed as an Abaco Barb. You not only have to get the cross right, but u also need the general build, type, height etc., right as well. By buying books from the Bookstore at the Marketplace for the breed you want to breed for, it will allow you to evaluate horses & see if they meet the requirements of the breed. Doing this will give you are much higher percentage change of breeding the Abaco Barb.
My suggestion is by the book for that breed, evaluate the stud & mare to see if they meet the requirements, as well as the crossed necessary & breed to other horses that fill those requirements. Good Luck :)
