Bay + silver black = buckskin?
Just bred this foal colt
Dam is silver black, sire is bay appaloosa. Could the dam be smokey black and if so, are there any visible signs? Or is there another explanation? And if anyone's got a horse that they're certain is silver black, could you link it, please? I'd like to see.
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance

Re: Bay + silver black = buckskin?
You are right, the dam is smoky - the sign for smoky blacks is only visible in the foal pics; a more yellowish/dull greybrown rather than the normal deep brown of the foals shows smoky. Sometimes the shade is hard to spot, so throwing a buckskin foal is a clear indicatorParsnip wrote:Just bred this foal coltDam is silver black, sire is bay appaloosa. That is a smoky silver black (sooty just darkens his mane)
This is a silver black Grillo (so, with Dun, but the normal shade is obvious)
Take a look at the foal pics (under 1 year) and it should help

Thanks. I can see it now, comparing her foal pics with her smokey black daughter's.
