Flaxen - what did I miss??

This colt:


is still a newborn, but definitely not flaxen.
Both his parents are flaxen.
As far as I know, flaxen is recessive, so if both parents are flaxen, there is no way the foal is not. So what am I missing here?

You're correct on everything. And it does appear that foal is NOT flaxen. Let it grow up and see if there is any sign. If not, I'd send it to admins to confirm that it isn't a glitch.

However, it could be the lightest expression of flaxen as well... rather the minimalist form of flaxen.
