Contest still running, if you are interested just enter ^^

Re: Dark Shades Contest
Aah! I am going to enter but I first had to hop on and just say how much I love this contest! I get so happy when I see contests focusing on undersung genes. It's so interesting to see how differently a single gene can express! Y'all have such beautiful sooty horses. I'm really going to have to comb through my account and choose carefully for this one. I'll let my partner know about this contest too so hopefully they'll also come by to contribute.

Re: Dark Shades Contest
Many thanks for your kind words ^^ yes, it's the quiet ones I want to give a bit of spotlight tooStick wrote:Aah! I love to see even more shades of sooty admitted here, so take your time

Re: Dark Shades Contest
I already knew the three expressions of sooty that I would be narrowing it down to, it was just a matter of trying to pick which one I was actually going to enter. And so I've finally chosen, but will show the other two just for fun as well.
My actual entry will definitely have to be one of my Forest Horses because they have the craziest dark sooty of all. I have a few other chestnuts that are pretty wild, but Redhorn's is the darkest and most velvety:

The ones I'm not actually going to enter are:
My old buckskin who looks like shiny, tarnishing brass: http://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/1693069
As well as my Caspian boy who I immediately snatched out of the AC because of his fabulous dark sooty mantle that I'm now trying to breed out into the rest of my herd: http://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/1915397
Thanks again for the contest!

Re: Dark Shades Contest
while I don't like chestnuts that much, I love the sooty ones - and the pangare from below gives him an incredible range - quite a nice oneStick wrote:I already knew the three expressions of sooty that I would be narrowing it down to, it was just a matter of trying to pick which one I was actually going to enter. the buckskin is gorgeous - I do own a few like him and I always think the sooty shiny ones look somehow egyptian <3 His mantle is cute, the pony-types seem to carry many interesting kinds of sooty as well ^^

Re: Dark Shades Contest
I hear there is a sooty contest going on! 8D
Unfortunately, most of my best expressions of sooty have aged out or were from breeds that I moved away from, so I only have a few left. My favorite among them is this guy.

I know he has dun, but I actually really like how the sooty and mostly-stripeless dun play together on him. He has a really smooth look, going from warm to cool tones across his body.

yeah, I see want you mean by that - he is a nice one, such a smooth color ^o^
also, regarding dillutions, it's only the white/varnishing ones I'd like the contestants to avoid, so dun is really ok (and as I like dun, it's even less of a problem x) )
