I can't figure this guy out, back doesn't match front

I can't figure this guy out, back doesn't match front

Hello,
I'm low vision and struggle a bit with colour. This guy is really confusing me:

I have him listed as a red roan , but his rump is so dark compared to the front. I can't figure this out.

He's Sooty Bay Roan, you can tell by his black mane, tail and legs. The sooty is visible on his rump ;)
