HOW TO get greens
i don't get it..
i try to breed great horses, but i can't cat more greens in it
i breed amazing horses, with great comments and 2 green, and i get foals with no greens at all and some even bad comments.
ten i trained them to the top, many ten i would get greens.. but no.
im just not able right now, to get more green in my horse
can somebody explain to me how to get greens, to get more greens..
sometimes i got a horse with great comments, then from both the same parents, i get a useless one that i rehome. no greens, bad comments.
i don't get it.. how do i get to my goal???
please help and explain

Re: HOW TO get greens
From my limited knowledge of the game, it's all about the genetics and probability.
For example, if you breed a stud with two greens to a mare with two greens, there is always a possibility that the foal will inherit the "bad side" of each parents genes and even end up with a red or two. The more you inbreed, the greater the likelihood that you will get either very good stats, or very bad, as each parent has more of the same genetic code. Not sure how in-depth the genetics go in this game, but in real life, inbred horses start having problems due to recessive genetic traits.
Also, Larissa has said in another forum post that it is impossible to get all green stats. I think that she said that the max is 3 or 4, because some of the traits are exclusive.

Re: HOW TO get greens
I have to admit it's pretty frustrating how hard it is to get greens without inbreeding. And WHICH greens you can get seem breed based, which means you need to crossbreed to get greens in areas certain breeds don't specialize in, right?

Re: HOW TO get greens
I think this has to do with conformation. As far as I know, every horse could possibly have a positive comment for a certain stat, but for this stat being green, it has to meet certain physical goals. So a very light horse may have a positive strength stat.MoonRiver130 wrote:I have to admit it's pretty frustrating how hard it is to get greens without inbreeding. like this guy
But there will probably never be Arabians with greens in strength as their build doesn't allow for them to excel in strength.
Keep in mind that this is all speculation, though.

Re: HOW TO get greens
Probability definitely plays a role. I've been in the same boat at times. I'll pair together two horses with amazing breeding reports and possibly spend a fortune on the stud fee only to wind up with a foal that is either not worth selling or would sell for less than the stud fee I paid. Sometimes I can pair together two mediocre horses without any greens and wind up with two greens. Once I had a Turkmene mare that had two red stats and one green and her foal came out with no reds or greens, but nearly every comment was positive. I've been lucky enough to never have the random red stat foal so far.
I currently have a foal that has me a bit stumped and wondering where on earth his green tempo came from. Viewing his pedigree would suggest that most of his ancestors were average to bad at tempo, yet here he is with a green tempo. http://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/111833.
For the most part it does seem as if one of the few ways to breed in new Green stats to a breed is to crossbreed. I have been attempting to get green speed in Arabians by cross breeding to Turkmenes. However, there are some rare cases in which you will come across a first or second generation Arabian that has a very positive comment for speed. I was lucky enough to nab a second gen 0% COI pure Arabian stallion with such a comment. So far I've learned that there is a lot of luck and sometimes money involved when attempting to attain the desired stat.

Re: HOW TO get greens
I may have to do a write up on how the performance traits work. Would have to wait until break though.
Nipping this first. Training has nothing to do with producing horses with better performance traits; they are entirely genetic.daisy12c wrote:i don't get it..

Mostly genetics. Not much probability, except for the random behaviours of genes mixing.Electron wrote:From my limited knowledge of the game, it's all about the genetics and probability.
Assuming the sire and dam are green in the same traits, getting a red would be highly improbable. Possible, by improbable. Inbreeding can aid in making the process faster, but you can breed yourself into a corner and end up with horses that have moderate or poor traits (I've done this with my TBs, which are consistently green for Tempo and Balance, but also consistently poor in Strength and Intelligence, and just moderate in Movement).Electron wrote:For example, if you breed a stud with two greens to a mare with two greens, there is always a possibility that the foal will inherit the "bad side" of each parents genes and even end up with a red or two. The max is three greens for the seven physical attributes, with the potential four green being Intelligence, which is not impacted by physique and is therefore a sort of freebie.Electron wrote:Also, Larissa has said in another forum post that it is impossible to get all green stats. There's no harm in inbreeding, currently, so there's nor reason to avoid it. What can be green is not limited to breed, but to body type. Each of the ancient breeds has a trait which is has superior genetics for, so yes, you would need to crossbreed to get the traits you desire.MoonRiver130 wrote:I have to admit it's pretty frustrating how hard it is to get greens without inbreeding. Yes.nyraeia wrote: I think this has to do with conformation.

Re: HOW TO get greens
A guide that displays the physical traits and how they affect stats would wonderful to have one day. I can see that being a fairly large project though.

Re: HOW TO get greens
great, we know some more about it right now, sounds good, hopefully it will work
