Champagne perlino?

Post by MoonRiver130 »

I mean I bred him so I should know, but I'm a little confused by that dark eye. He should be a champagne perlino, right?
Shouldn't he have light eyes?

edit: correcting link

You've linked to a pasture, so which horse do you mean? ;)

It looks like it might be amber champagne (champagne on bay) with dun. The dun is just so light one can't see it. My guess is, champagne (obviously) with a bay base with dun... even if I'm not sure as your horses legs are lighter...

http://www.ichregistry.com/images/dreamer1.jpg here is a amber champagne dun.

It might be a Sable Champagne Cream if the horses in it's pedigree have the cream gene. Ivory do actually look like one. But nobody on Saryars side have any visible seal browns. I guess they might have the gene, just not visible.

Moonlight looks like some kind of silver... maybe silver champagne buckskin? Or just champagne buckskin. But she can be a grey champagne. So no need for actually cream genes. Fizz looks like maybe a amber champagne, so no need for cream. Honeycomb looks a bit like your horse, amber champagne dun.

So my guess, either your horse are Bay + Champagne + Dun http://www.ichregistry.com/images/dreamer1.jpg or an Bay + 1 Cream + Champagne http://www.ichregistry.com/identificati ... 0-2008.JPG http://www.ichregistry.com/images/Skipp ... y_-_r1.jpg

omg I don't really know... how about you test breeding him with several horses without cream and champagne and see what he produces? If he creates creams with a normal bay, than you know. If it is light but with no freckles on the muzzle, it's probably cream as you know there is no champagne then.

Looks to me like a light amber cream champagne. So bay + champagne + 1 cream.

Thanks guys. I know there's cream in there from Saset (his sire) but Przewalski's are already a little tricky to pin down color wise, so I wasn't sure what base Moon has. I think the amber cream champagne is probably spot on. I've tested him on some mares and he doesn't seem to pass on dun, so I think I lost that somewhere along the line :O oops!
