I am also still working on Exmoor Ponies! I'm another slow breeder, since I'm working on both correcting conformation to better represent their real life counterparts (your colt, Brazen Dubai, has a nice shoulder and barrel conformation, by the way!) and also working on adding non-dun and reduced pattern dun (which what I think stickers is referring to as cryptic dun).

If I remember, I'll let you know when I get gen 2 and 3's in case your still looking for them, but it'll probably be a bit of a wait.

Sounds good! I figured there were still a couple of you out there working on them too since I have seen some other studs come up. And thank you! I am pretty happy with him so far and he is 4* for Exmoor Pony also. The only rating he is missing is height because he will be a little too tall.

Ah, yeah, that's what I meant. I've also been working on reduced-pattern tarpans and przewalskis to get better reduced-pattern exmoors right off the bat. I've lucked out a couple times so far, which is nice.

And I wish I was any good at joining in on fixing conformation, but I have neither the knowledge nor the premium account (or however that works) for something like that. So, I've only been working on colors/markings, good manes/tails, getting consistent 5* for the breed, and high body size since that tends to drop.

The immense COI is gonna be the bigger issue since most of my stock is high COI but this will probably be the main way I get the mealy bay/brown into them. And yes... I will be making them available for the public for this project. :)

Brazen Dubai

Would you be interested in purchasing this mare when I'm done with her?

ECE's Ventara

She's a first generation purebred Exmoor Pony that is heterozygous for dun, so she has the potential to throw non-dun foals. I'm currently rolling the odds pairing her with Perfect Retribution to get a non-dun, non-cream foal out of the two, but after I have that, I wouldn't mind selling her to you to give you a leg up in removing dun faster.

She has a 75% chance to produce a non-dun foal with Brazen Dubai, and as a plus, I think she could pair well with Brazen Dubai conformation-wise as well. However, she won't be a big help with lowering COI since, while she is (to my knowledge) unrelated to your stock , she has a COI of 91.42%.

If you're interested in her, let me know and I'll ping you when I'm done with her (may the odds be ever in my favor lol)! No pressure, though. :)

Yeah, the way I fix conformation requires access to premium account. I have a whole method of quantifying scores to have solid goals that I detail on the Breeding Communities forum titled "Realist Exmoor Ponies - A Comprehensive Standard". It is, admittedly, a lot. Probably too much. However, if you ever decide you would like to try I would be happy to help you - whether its answering questions about the method or scoring your horses for you, even the not-pure bred mixes (as long as my premium isn't expired).

Your current goals already do a great service helping to improve the breed! I have definitely happened on your farm before and admired the progress you've made on that front so far. :D

Oh gosh, that means a lot. I always feel so far behind everyone else (especially as I came here as a genetics person, not someone who knew a lot about horses beforehand), so I'm happy to hear that. And I would love to get involved with more intensive effort of perfecting the breed, probably once I either reach purebred Exmoors again or have some stand-out mixes. Otherwise, I wouldn't know where to start, haha.

I'd been focusing on improving Exmoors for a long while before the AC project started, but it had been really slow going. So, the breed is a long-term love for me, and will continue after the AC project finishes. ♥

If she is available, just let me know! I would be interested in having a go with her! I have a feeling I might take the Exmoors on anyways as one of my main breeds after the Exmoor AC Project is finished just so I can keep refining them the way I want with the colors I want! Ideally I would get on them the same dark bay/brown as what I have on my Sokolsky draft horses since that is pretty close to the color of the Exmoor ponies I knew in real life. :)

If anyone is interested, I have a non-dun 25% Exmoor Pony colt for sale. Unfortunately he has Tobiano, but if anyone thinks he might help with your program feel free to leave an offer! I have more info about him from his sale ad below.

ECE's Grymforge

HGP: 32,763
COI: 0%

GOLD Intelligence

E/A+/TO
> 50% chance for Mealy
> Potential to carry hidden undesirable color genes (e.g., chestnut, black)
> Chance for heterozygous Tobiano

White pattern will need bred out, but can help contribute to non-dun Exmoor Ponies

Will be a short colt!
Low body size, pair with heavier mares

Likely to have small ears!

You guys are making excellent progress on the Exmoor Pony breed! I spent part of today reviewing the genetics and setting up some tests in the AC to see how you're progressing and here is a few images to show your progress. Keep up the great work!!

I have her up for you! While I didn't get my non-dun out of her, I retained a few nice colts to use going forward. Just offer however much you'd like and I'll accept for you. :)
