Re: Exmoor Pony
I am so down for this! I have to clean up my barns of old projects since I finished the Breeds quests a few months back, but I would be super happy to participate for the Exmoors!
When I was in high school I volunteered for a woman who ran a small horse riding non-profit that taught children how to ride and drive horses. She had three Exmoor Ponies that were to her knowledge the ONLY ones in the Continental United States, and all three came from Canada. I loved those three and while they weren't really suited for teaching riding, she used them to help educate about rare breeds like the Exmoor Pony. A year or so ago I repainted an old Breyer Misty model to resemble an Exmoor... I'd say they are probably my favorite pony
I also feel doing this little project will help bring more interest to this breed considering this is a very old breed!

Re: Exmoor Pony
I have a selection of AC stock I've just gotten my first round of Exmoors from linked here if anyone is interested. Each horse is proven exmoor producer

Re: Exmoor Pony
Anyone willing to sell a gen2 or higher colt? I’m not really seeing anything beyond gen1 on the market. I’ve also started listing all of my own colts that are cropping up. Most of them have green balance and gen 2. I think there’s one gen3. I really want to maintain 0 COI but the easiest way for me to do that is to trade outside stallions. I feel like the Exmoor and akhal-take breeders are in a race and I want to even the odds
I just wanted to say that I really appreciate what the project is doing beyond just being a new feature by adding more breeds to the AC. Since I started playing (on and off over the years) I’ve noticed that players are very insular about their stock. I do understand, it’s a lot of work, but at the same time I’m really, and probably overly, concerned about the effects that high COI is going to have on the horses, and it seems like it will be a monumental task to keep COI low while also have competitive horses without sharing genetics with other players. I really wonder what kind of impact it’s going to have on the community when high COI will start to be more of a disadvantage. Thanks for listening to my Ted Talk

They're nothing special, one is already evaluated, the other, not yet. If you like or want either or both, just come collect them ($1)

Re: Exmoor Pony
Starting to produce third generations. Nothing special, but here's the first one that meets 5 star.
Also, still working on getting the brown. It's slower than I anticipated, but these things sometimes are.

Re: Exmoor Pony
Hey BlackOak, during any of your crosses with Donovan did you end up with any black foals? I'm trying to save time in determining whether he's AtAt or Ata for agouti since I'm considerably slower with my Exmoor Pony program. lolBlackOak2 wrote:

Donovan's color is actually indicated by his owner in his notes.
I can confirm that I have had at least one black foal from him, he is indeed Ata, a SINGLE agouti carrier. Indeed useful to also tell the tale if ours are single agouti as well.

I can also confirm that Donovan can throw shortie foals with shortie mares. A little hit and miss, but he can do it. Also, he does seem to hover on the line of horse and pony build. It seems to be more dependent on the mare's preferences than his. So if you have a mare that favors more horse build, the foals will more often lean that way. Likewise, a mare that favors a more pony build will also have foals with him that are more toward pony.
That exhausts the information I've gotten from breeding to him thus far.

I never tested him out for the whether his second allele was AtAt or Ata, so I appreciate the input! I'll add that to his genetics.

I also appreciate the notes about his breed eval tendencies. I'll be sure to add that to my nerdy spreadsheet so I can keep it on file.

Apologies for assuming and making the mistake that you weren't his owner.

When I got my first black foal, I questioned why and I remember looking at his notes and seeing you had only indicated one At, which I then assumed you had already confirmed that he was. X/
Ah, the plague of assumption!

Only reason I haven't yet kept a secondary foal from him, is because he keeps giving me colts. -_- And I think he did give me one tall filly, being born at 10 hands, however, is a considerable problem for the exmoor project. XD
