Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.
All new threads must be approved.

Re: The Rare Breed Repopulation Community
That sounds great with me! I would assume that would make the group a bit more active than beforehand.Gabby_Woodlark wrote:As a leader, I give you permission, as long as everyone else is fine with it
Also, I need everyone's opinion, should I add a group ping to the main post? It could have everyone in one big ping, separate pings based on role, or both.
Let me know, guys, your opinions matter ^^

If you mean pinging everyone in the club to get some activity going then go for it. You could change the member list to pings, for example: (with the orange set to the club's exact yellow orange of course)

Re: The Rare Breed Repopulation Community
Small update from me:
Dole sale's still going but the no-aging grace period has ended, so they're in the process of being aged out unless someone claims them.
Norths are growing in numbers. I'm going to pause at some point and get rid of anything with a low HGP. One recently got born with an HGP of 43k which is 10k too low for me personally, so I'm going to go through and remove Norths that aren't helping raise the breed's quality. It'll probably be another sale in which proceeds will go to the club.
Edit: My farm reached its population limit since I have leftover Doles aging out, my Forest Horses, the NSH herd, and the Shetlands all in one place. I ended up rehoming any NSH under 45k HGP and I'll make that my culling guideline for future NSH foals. I might have to sacrifice HGP for evals to get the Latvians done before my other two projects fill up my farm.
Some Norths are being born at a Medium build instead of Heavy or Medium Heavy. Lats want a Light, Medium Light, or Medium build so this is ideal. When these foals are of age, they might be Latvian producers.
Unrelated, but if any of you are ever in the AC and find a sooty dapple Turkmene, I would do quite a bit for it. I'm in the market for AC sooty dapple Turks with no progeny and Unknown ancestors and am offering money, coverings, art, grinders, etc. for any that you find. Heck, I'll breed a breed for you from scratch from AC horses if you so wish. They seem to be rare and their patterning can be extremely subtle.

Re: The Rare Breed Repopulation Community
How's everyone doing? How're your projects going, in and out of the club?

Re: The Rare Breed Repopulation Community
Good, good. Decided now's the time I should start my break, so no more turns for me, just occasionally answering threads. Might keep it up for a week or two, then I'll be back full-timeEclipticEnd wrote:How's everyone doing? How're your projects going, in and out of the club?

Re: The Rare Breed Repopulation Community
I've officially run out of room on this farm as well, so I'm gonna be rehoming the North Swedish Horse studs on this account since I have some more suited to the Latvian eval that're frozen. You're welcome to take a look for any you want before I do so. I'm gonna cull from the foals as well and get rid of anything heavier than Medium Heavy for the build regardless of HGP.
Probably just gonna go straight for Latvians instead of making the NSH HGP higher. The Lats should still be above 45k HGP when they're made, which isn't great but isn't terrible. With luck they might even be over 50k.

Re: The Rare Breed Repopulation Community
Took a small break, cleared up farm space, and now I'm back to breeding.
How's everyone doing? Would there be any interest in an RBRC member only contest? I'm thinking about offering trained North Swedish Horses as one of the prizes, but I'm not sure about the interest or the turnup to it if I make it club only. They also wouldn't be that great as competitors nor Grinders I don't think since their HGP is hovering in the 40k-55k range. I'm also considering doing trained Latvians if I can breed some sometime soon, but again the HGP wouldn't be above 60k.

I think I would participate in a contest! Could be something fun to try…EclipticEnd wrote:Took a small break, cleared up farm space, and now I'm back to breeding.
