That moment when...

You're attempting to put some genes into some lines and express them just right...
And you're Really Having Issues with it, but you continue to struggle along...
And suddenly, they pop up elsewhere in a relatively randomly-bred line.

Sometimes it just makes you want to cry.

And you see the sire's gallery photo is due to be retaken...
So you go to take it, only to realize just then...
That he's a public stud and you don't own him.



Seeing too many foals recently...

You're looking for a pure or mixed breed sporting a certain type and size, that happens to be just outside of normal...
And of course, you can't find one appropriate...
So you need to make one yourself...
So you do...

Then you need a pure or mixed breed sporting something within the breeds regular requirements...
Or perhaps within the requirements you need, because the present trend has them all favoring those same requirements...
And All You Find!
Are those that you needed before, and don't need now.

you're pressing your luck with turns, taking 1 then waiting *very patiently* for the next one to come around, hoping that you might just make the "level up" mark.. but you don't.

then, finally when you do level up, you don't need those additional turns...

You're training for a turn, or two turns... or three turns...
And you slowly realize that something isn't Quite Right...
So you check your training regime...
And realize your still on lunge...
Or on 5 minutes.

Sometimes some accidents are Such A Waste... of valuable time.

You KNOW that you had a filly (or a colt)...
And you named them with a feminine (or masculine) name...
And later you check up on them...
And they're NOT the same sex that they once were...

I SWEAR! it is...

This one was peculiarly weird (double up, I know), I distinctly remember thinking... 'well... two fillies, I could just sell the one, but these quests are a little difficult. Would've been nicer if it was a colt, but it'll still make do.'
And now... magically... one is suddenly a colt. I'm not upset, it works out better that way, for me, it's just... really... yeah.

Your mare gives birth to a foal that's the same height as she is... At Birth.



The stud was almost as short as she is... and they bred a giant.
Mare = 11.2hh
Stallion = 12.3hh
Foal 0.5m = 11.2hh

You’re working on creating a breed...
And you’ve got a really, REALLY, short Mare that you think will be perfect for those tall studs...
And you have bought basically her whole pedigree...
And finally when the foal comes...
And it ends up being 32 inches.

*note this is a 12.0hh 1/2 BELGIAN mare, bred to a 18.2hh PERCHERON stud. It’s not just one screwup, she’s had so many short foals. I guess shortness is dominate in her family.
