Looking at his pedigree I just noticed his sire has dark ear tips and his dam also has lighter ear tips.

Definitely dam lines. The sire has bay lines which doesn't look like the foal had taken up on the bay lines. And yes it can be normal as its just hereditary![]()

So he started out as a bay, and then got dilutions added on top. If he just had the cream he'd be buckskin. If he just had champagne, he'd be amber champagne. But since he has both his color is called Amber Cream.
