I find renaming okay (I have some pretty goofy names lol) but taking off the breeders id is wrong. I hate it when people do it with my horses but so far there is no way to control it other than hope others will have a good conscience when they buy.

I feel the same way. In general though, I don't change the name of the horses I purchase. It messes with the offspring names if you do the traditional way of using the mare and sire's names in some combination. Always makes me mad.

Maybe it will be a feature some day, that you can lock the name if you wish.
I've only bought one adult horse and he had offspring, so I didn't change his name. He's sadly gone now.
