However... since in the future we will have the ability to add breeds to the game (for real money, likely) I wouldn't mind opening that up for that option.

But that's my personal opinion. That also carries through with mules and donkeys and the like. :D

We should add them as costumes maybe ;)
I also like winged horses and UNICORNSSSSSS

I wouldn't mind adding costumes for these, but not the actual creature. Though I would like them too, this is a realistic game and I'd personally like to leave them out.

It is my personal opinion. As far as zebras, mules, donkeys, etc... I have less problem adding them, because we actually have them in the real world. Though how you would breed such a creature as a zebra or a donkey, since they are not breeds of horses, but distinct equine species, I don't know. But such creatures when crossed with the horse create such breeds like the mule, the zonkey and the zeborse? I don't remember the names of some of those crosses. For something like actual unicorns and winged horses... I don't recall any of the mythological births of the unicorn, but the pegasus was born from medusa's blood. There would also be little crossover to our regular breeds, unless something like the pegasus is it's own breed then you could make such a thing as a 'winged' Pindos Pony. Then that would theoretically double the breeds on the game. This would also create a whole new set of all new wing designs and colors and genetic linkages. Although quite a unique consideration and one I wouldn't mind having added to the game, I am still stuck with the realistic's of this game and also of the massive undertaking adding something like that would be.
So, I would like to see costumes of the unicorn and pegasus (we already have horns when our admins release them for us), and perhaps only later, at some release after much more of the game is completed, then the addition of the outside equine breeds might be an option.

And once again, :D just my opinion.

This might sound rude or nerdy but: zebras are actually just a wild breed of horse, not a different species.

Where it is technically true that the word 'Breed' has very little set definition when it comes the question, "What does breed actually mean and what does it define", when I use it, I use it in reference to the most generally accepted guideline of: 'A breed is a specific group of domestic animals having homogeneous appearance, homogeneous behavior, and/or other characteristics that distinguish it from other organisms of the same species.'
To help distinguish it from their wild brethren. And for those wild animals, I generally us the word 'sub-species' to define 'one of two or more populations of a species living in different subdivisions of the species' range and varying from one another by morphological characteristics'. In both of these cases, the word breed or sub-species could arguably be used synonymously with each other.

So now going further, a domestic horse has 64 chromosomes, between the mix of the zebras, they can have anywhere from 32 to 46 (depending on the sub-species). Thus the foal of this cross is very often born sterile.

As in the donkey, horse cross, creating a mule, which is the closer species chromosomeally (don't know if that's really a word, but it works for me for this), is a difference of just 2 chromosomes, where the donkey has 62. Again, arguably, many of these offspring are born sterile.

And lastly, I'll take the Przewalski Horse. This wild breed has a whopping 66 chromosomes, two more than our domestic horse. When this pair crosses, 'most' of these offspring are viable.

Which means what? It means that when you have a different number of chromosomes, it's generally accepted as a different 'species'. But just because you have a different number of chromosomes, it does not mean that they aren't viably able to produce offspring, but it also means that the further apart the number of chromosomes are, the more difficult to concieve and less likely the offspring are to be viable themselves.

It also tells us that the wild species of horse the Przewalski is likely descended from the Same ancestor as our domesticated horse and that the donkey and zebra are likely descended from an offshoot of an older ancestor.

Thus the conclusion is made that the zebra and donkey compared to our domestic horse are different, but closely related species of equine and that the przewalski and our domestic horse can likely be considered different breeds.

And that, is where my understanding is on the subject. Do you have different interpretation? I'd be interested in hearing it.

In the case of unicorns, it depends on what mythology you follow and what historical likelihood you attribute to it.

But such a delving into THAT area... it inevitably leads to volumes of literature. I won't go into that.

So, long story short, I both agree and also disagree with your statement!
