I believe a given pasture, no matter if it is small/medium/large, occupies the same amount of space in your farm. So you COULD buy a million small pastures, but you'd have to expand your farm to match and the farm has a maximum size.

Ah ha! Well now that makes a lot more sense as to the price difference of pastures. I thought it was strange that each size up was so much more expensive.
